Tourism returns to the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve
This weekend security and rescue operations began for ascents to the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve, after a year of cancellations to climb the forest due to the risk of Covid-19, today this tourist destination is ready to receive hundreds of visitors not only from Baja California Sur but from the rest of Mexico and other parts of the world.
Recently, the State Civil Protection Department, in coordination with Los Cabos Civil Protection, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) and ranchers in the area, implemented a security and assistance operation for the ascent of approximately 450 hikers to the Sierra La Laguna, during the period from November 11 to 15.
Year after year, those who decide to climb the Sierra de la Laguna have to prepare themselves physically due to the many hours of ascent. There are different ways to get there; Pescadero, La Burrera with access at km. 54.5 on the short road from Todos Santos to Cabo San Lucas; La Victoria, with access to San Antonio de la Sierra at km. 147+600 on the Transpeninsular Highway No. 1 (long way) section from La Paz to Cabo San Lucas.

To climb the sierra, you must have a guide who will show you how to get there, if you do not have a person who knows the way you can get lost in the plains, on more than one occasion there have been search protocols for people trying to reach the biosphere and not knowing the trails are lost in the course.
