Adding private and public companies, in Los Cabos there are more than 100 paramedics certified by the Official Mexican Standard

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur (BCS). The municipal director of Civil Protection in Los Cabos, Eric Santillán revealed that, in the municipality there are 5 private companies and 3 public institutions that provide pre-hospital services, referring that, in total, there are more than 100 paramedics certified by the Official Mexican Standard (NOM).

“There are around 5 private companies, with around 40 to 50 emergency medical technicians at the 3 different levels and certified; and there are 3 public institutions, where there are between 70 and 85 technicians. All pre-hospital emergency services are regulated by the Official Mexican Standard, which is applied by the Ministry of Health ”, he declared.

He added that, as public institutions, the pre-hospital care they provide is completely free, as long as it is an emergency, noting that unfortunately, people have the misconception that scheduled transfers also count as an emergency.

Finally, he recalled that, although they were working on a bill to regulate prehospital services, he assured that the pandemic had to happen, noting that this is not a sign that it will be forgotten, as they will depend on what Congress will retake it.
