La Paz graduate wins award as a leader in Latin American programming

Jiovanna Manríquez Avilés is one of the top 20 app developers in the region by creating a project that benefits women.

Jiovanna Manríquez Avilés, an engineer graduated from the Tecnológico Nacional de México (TecNM), campus La Paz, located in Baja California Sur, won the award for leading female programmer in Latin America, granted by Huawei.

The recognition was obtained by participating in the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) App Innovation Contest: AppsUp, among more than 2,000 entries and more than 600 women.

Jiovanna took advantage of the pandemic to develop an app on iOS and Android to provide social-emotional support, inform and inspire women.

“Having the desire to keep learning and a strategic vision to be able to bring value to the world, it is possible to build innovative solutions for the benefit of our society,” expressed the 27-year-old Programming Leader.

For his part, the director of the TecNM, Enrique Fernñández Fassnacht, recognized the talent of professionals in information and communication technology to build a better world.
