There are franchises that have an interest in Baja California Sur, including 2 foreign and 3 domestic; tourists seek authenticity, said the president of Canirac
La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). The president of the National Chamber of the Seasoned Restaurants and Food Industry(Canirac), Lorena Hinojosa Oliva mentioned that, there are 5 franchises interested in arriving in Baja California Sur, both from the country and foreign; to date there are 3 in the entity, however, she highlighted that vacationers prefer to consume in small shops, because they are looking for typical dishes of the state.
“I understand that there are 2 and 3 domestic franchises in the interest of foreign franchises; the franchises we have are 3. The tourist attraction is with us, the local micro and small entrepreneurs, because tourism today moves privileging the authenticity of the regions they visit, these foreign franchises (are) unreactive, because they have them in their countries of origin; what they’re looking for is authenticity and what’s handled in these regions,” he said.
The representative of the restaurants in Baja California Sur commented that these new developments will be a competition for micro-entrepreneurs, because they have more financial livelihoods, although she said that local businesses always strive to provide quality and warmth to their customers.
“Those of us who are here (must) put on our batteries because it means competition; on many occasions, local micro and small businesses can hardly compete with these consortia, but I have always said so: the warmth and quality provided by local micro and small businesses never compares to what big companies provide, in terms of that quality and warmth,” he emphasized.
Finally, he said that despite the pandemic, three new restaurants were born in La Paz and fewer than 5 in Los Cabos, which will give about 15 new jobs; he also said that more and more entrepreneurs are interested in investing in the restaurant industry.
“In the capital city we have 3 new restaurants, and in Los Cabos we have registered no less than 5 other new restaurants, it is betting on investment in the food sector; at least every company has between 10 and 15 new employees,” he concluded.
