La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). This week a meeting was held between the organizers of the “Baja 1000” off road race and Baja California Sur authorities, in order to work on the return of the sporting event for November 2021; brings together more than 60,000 fans, said the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (Setues), Luis Humberto Araiza López.
“We will work to do everything we can to lay the foundations that help events like the Baja 1000 to take place. Our main interest is to help Baja California Sur regain its tourism potential”, he declared.
The event brings together more than 60,000 fans, as well as around 400 teams from different countries, as well as more than 150 media in the 5 continents, who cover the journey.
In this regard, the official described that the purpose of the meeting was to refine and review the details that will allow the competition to be carried out, which had to be postponed in its 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is a priority that tourism achieves its recovery in all segments, the sports market being one of the most relevant for Baja California Sur; it generates important economic spillovers and great projection to the entity’s scenarios, added.
Finally, Araiza López highlighted his commitment to continue strengthening tourism in Baja California Sur, in an orderly, safe and responsible manner in the face of the health emergency.
