BCS government expects to capture 200 million pesos from foreign tourist tax in 2022

There is the intention of starting to collect it from January, informed the Secretary of Finance and Administration, Bertha Montaño

La Paz, BCS.- During the next year, the state government plans to raise 200 million pesos for the use known as a foreign tourist tax.

This was announced by the Secretary of Finance and Administration of Baja California Sur, Bertha Montaño Cota, who added that the estimated collection is about 400 million less than what the previous state Administration had projected.

He argued that it was determined to be measured in the projection, because 2022 would be the first year in which it would be charged, since in the previous Administration it was not possible in its entirety, due to the pandemic.

He acknowledged that the collection of this use is not easy, for which reason they are currently reviewing the technical and operational details, to expedite the collection of the contribution.

The head of Finance and Administration, said that the intention is that starting in January it will begin to be charged, so details on the matter are currently being refined.

The collection of this use came into effect on November 9, 2019, but due to the pandemic that caused the fall in tourism worldwide, it was no longer possible to advance towards the estimated goal of 600 million pesos in 2020.
