Comondú will produce about 27,000 tons of wheat and will generate 1,000 jobs: Sepada

The planting date is planned to begin on November 25, concluding on December 25 in the Santo Domingo Valley.

The municipality of Comondú is preparing for one of its most traditional activities: the cultivation of wheat, and for this year it is expected to produce around 27,000 tons, informed the head of the Secretariat of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Agricultural Development (Sepada), Jose Alfredo Bermudez Beltran.

This activity, which generates up to 1,000 jobs per season, will be carried out in the Santo Domingo Valley and will begin this year from November 25 to December 25, since a better yield is obtained by planting on these dates.

Bermúdez Beltrán also mentioned other important data, such as that in 2021, 4,000 hectares of this grain will be established, which mainly supplies the municipalities of La Paz and Los Cabos.

Another detail is that the price of each ton is around 6,000 pesos, and it will be in May 2022 when farmers will enter the harvesting stage, which will be done by machinery.
