This Monday, the administration of President Joe Biden released images of the offering that has an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe in the center. The painting was donated by the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. Below the religious image there is a box with the drawing of a skull and a badge that says in Spanish and English “Día de los Muertos” and is signed by “Joe & Jill” referring to the president and the first lady of the country. .

The altar has several traditional articles such as skulls, flowers, fruits, bread of the dead, candles, multicolored ornaments and other typical objects of this date. However, it did not have photographs of deceased people, something that was criticized by users on social networks.

The Day of the Dead is a festival that is celebrated in Mexico every November 2. In the Christian tradition it is the day of the faithful departed, and it is the moment when people take the opportunity to remember their deceased loved ones.
